ABOUT US
Howard and Vida
Hiatt and family established Hiatt Farms in the spring of 1966 on a small farm
just off the edge of the Turtle Mountains in Bottineau, North Dakota.
Horses have always been a large part of the Hiatt life, but now the raising and
breeding on a commercial basis would be the livelihood for the members of Hiatt
Farms.
Rod and Suzanne, and Rick and his wife Susan now own and operate the farm which consists of 2500 acres of native North Dakota pasture and hay land, where 125 mares and their colts roam over the summer months.
We have been
breeding our draft and draft cross mares to some very good Quarter Horse, Paint
and Thoroughbred stallions and producing some of the finest warm blood and sport
horse prospects in the country. This type of cross produces a stouter horse with
the docile mind set of the draft and the athletic ability of the light horse
breed. These horses have gone on to excel in almost any discipline that was
desired. We have offspring from Hiatt Farms being used for pleasure, trail
riding dude ranching, rodeo and ranch, gymkhana, field hunters as well as in the
show rings from ND to Texas and the East Coast to the West.
In the fall of 2005, we purchased Mystic Blue Eyes GF, an Imported German Warm blood stallion to add to our breeding program. Mystic Blue Eyes, aka Harley, is a 1999 cremello stallion that comes from some of the finest breeding in Germany. His first crop of colts will be coming in the spring of 2007 out of ½ Thoroughbred-Percheron mares.
Our goal is to raise a quality sport horse at a reasonable price and by the number of volume repeat buyers that we have, our goals are being met. Hundreds of our colts have been sold off videos and pictures and by our reputation that we stand behind the product that we raise.
We have horses for sale at all times, so if you are looking for that perfect horse to fill the void in your life, come to the beautiful Turtle Mountains of North Dakota and let us at Hiatt farms show you some of the finest sport horse prospects in the country.
